Cyprus

Perhaps the most adequate assessment of Cyprus as a tourist would sound like this: “strong Mediterranean goodness”. That is, this is a quite typical direction of a beach holiday, without any bright or unique "chips", but without big drawbacks (unless, of course, rather high prices are included as such). The island has a mild climate, service in hotels is quite adequate for their level, and the beaches are very clean, with many Blue Flags - so tours to Cyprus are more than deservedly popular with travelers.

The capital of the island - Nicosia - is unpopular among tourists, but definitely worthy of attention. This is a very beautiful ancient city, the first settlements date back to the 7th century BC. e. If you want to see an authentic non-tourist Cyprus, then you should allocate at least a couple of days to visit Nicosia. This city has many museums, as well as restaurants of Balkan and Greek cuisine.

The largest and most popular Cypriot resort is the city of Limassol. It is located on the sea coast and, in fact, this is a "universal" place to stay. For couples with children, there are water parks, an amusement park and hotels with all the infrastructure of small travelers, for young people there are a lot of clubs, bars and discos. In addition, this resort is considered the most international and "Russian-speaking".

Ayia Napa is the "local Ibiza", the most cheerful and youthful resort of the island, where the Cypriots themselves enjoy their holidays. The city has many great clubs, beach discos and a variety of bars and restaurants. And compared to the same Ibiza, hanging out in Ayia Napa is many times cheaper.

The most inexpensive and “simple” Cypriot resort is Larnaca. There is nothing special, but it is great for a relaxing family holiday with children. Sandy beaches, a gentle entrance to the sea and low prices for accommodation fully compensate for the lack of entertainment infrastructure. In addition, there is one of the two airports on the island.

The climate of Cyprus is temperate, with many sunny days throughout the year. Winter is very short and mild, the average temperature is from +17 to +19 °C. In the highlands in winter, the thermometer drops several degrees below zero, and snow falls. Summer is hot, lasts from mid-May to mid-October. During this period, the temperature can rise to +35 ° C in the shade, but due to the low humidity, the heat is easily tolerated.
